2011-12 Gainsborough Plate Final
ICL beat Stock Exchange 'B' in the final, 73-24.
Congratulations to ICL, the team in the final were: Mark Davies, Robert Buxton, John Coleman and Steve Hames.
It may be somewhat late to finish last year's events but it's an improvement of several months over 2011.

Leslie Dodds Final
Stock Exchange 'A' beat CMS Cameron McKenna in the final, 50-47.
In the final Stock Exchange were: Peter Cogliatti (captain), Stuart Leigh, Jimmy Strauss and David Hull with John Clarke, Chris Brewin and Brian Kelly appearing earlier in their campaign. Peter Cogliatti claims this win brings to an end a losing-streak of four unsuccessful finals.

Captains will shortly be sent details of how to do this. The procedure is very much the same as last year, each team having a code which allows access to a dedicated page. That page is used to edit team details. Once you have the code, enter it on this page (or the link, top-left).

The Premier Division has been, as even those with very long memories will attest, unprecedentedly close. The last result would affect top and bottom alike. When the scores were in, John Lewis, long-time leaders had won and four teams were equal on VPs in second place. Questions of Relegation will have to go to IMPs – see the cross-tables for the detail.

A single-session matchpointed pairs for players from LBH league or cup teams (not necessarily the same one).

There will be pre-duplicated boards with a copy of the hand records at the end of the event, which is scheduled to be scored using BridgeMates.
Entries, by email, to by FRIDAY, 8th June please, so that the necessary arrangements for catering and accommodation can be made, as there maximum of only 12 tables. All entries will be acknowledged by email.

2010-2011 Plate Final
Yes, you read it right: LSE-Imperial Alumni beat the 2010 vintage IBM 'A' in a high-scoring final, 97-63 to resolve the 2010-2011 Plate. Congratulations to Abel Bojar, CJ Chwu, Jon Desouza and Songtao Ye, commiserations to John Balson, Gad Chadha, Simon Cochemé and Peter Davies.
Special thanks to captains Ye and Davies for sticking with this, IBM getting the old crew out for one last mission (but it not working like in the movies). At last! I can close the season, take it off the left-navigation, consign it neatly to past years. Ah! Bliss…

Committee Meeting, 14-December
- VP fines for having played too few matches at the end of year: a suspended forfeit has been imposed on those teams with fewer than three matches played by 31-December. Two VPs will be deducted for each match unplayed (up to a maximum of three) but these will be restored if the team completes its league fixtures by the end of April.
- The much delayed plate semi-final: Young Chelsea have conceded so IBM should now arrange to play the final as soon as possible.
- Regrettably Young Chelsea has also withdrawn from the league as the captain is having difficulty raising a team. The YC hopes to return for 2012-13.
- Selfridges Pairs: this will be after the end of April and will be confirmed when the director has clarified his other commitments.
Masterpoints for 2010-11 League
I have sent a file to the EBU which has been acknowledged as acceptable (it's the first time we've made an electronic submission).
Please note, only those players for whom EBU Numbers were given or discoverable have been issued with MPs. I will write to captains when I can with the details of MPs awarded but this is slightly more involved and I was conscious of ensuring the MP submission was made in the 2011 MP-Year.

Matches; played and unplayed
I am glad to say that all 'either-or' fixtures in the knock-outs have been resolved by playing bridge – which is well done by all concerned. So if you were waiting on a result, please check your draw in the Leslie Dodds Cup and the Gainsborough Plate.
Less good news may fall on teams who have not made progress in playing matches. Two years ago the AGM voted to administer penalties on those who had played fewer than three matches before year-end.
So, make sure you have submitted results for matches played and get playing or the committee will get tough!

Division Five – new team
'Habeas Corpus' has joined Division Five and the Gainsborough Plate. That is a temporary name but you can look up their details via that for the time being (use the click team-name facility on the league layout).

I have been fooling about behind the scenes (again). In an effort to remove the dependence on the 'contacts' sheet, I've added an automatic lookup for each team's details.
On the league layout the team name is now a link (although it looks the same) and clicking on it produces a dialog with telephone and email of both captain and vice-captain.
I'm hopeful that this means it's easier to arrange matches: spare five minutes? Rather than search for that dog-eared sheet, it's much easier to look up a number or email.
As before, all email addresses are held encrypted and cannot be seen by automatic scanners etc. I realise that the league omits the 'knock-out only' teams; my plan is to do the same for the KO draw.

A blissfully short AGM. Only one change, a late petition by Temple Bar secured them a slot in division four and the starting positions have been amended. Likewise the REMOVED [PDF].
There are outstanding decisions by potential new clubs who might join the league but this would affect only division five.
