2010-2011 Plate Final

Yes, you read it right: LSE-Imperial Alumni beat the 2010 vintage IBM 'A' in a high-scoring final, 97-63 to resolve the 2010-2011 Plate. Congratulations to Abel Bojar, CJ Chwu, Jon Desouza and Songtao Ye, commiserations to John Balson, Gad Chadha, Simon Cochemé and Peter Davies.

Special thanks to captains Ye and Davies for sticking with this, IBM getting the old crew out for one last mission (but it not working like in the movies). At last! I can close the season, take it off the left-navigation, consign it neatly to past years. Ah! Bliss…

I've 'jazzed up' (note use of technical terms) the match details that appear when you click on a league score.

Go on, give it a try. Any problems… I guess you ought to tell me about them.

Where have my team-mates gone?

I've updated the list of players in each team, removing those who haven't played this season. So the drop-down of names in the 'submit results' web-form now only shows those who have played a match in 2010-11. This doesn't mean that you can't add new ones – just select '-- New Player --' at the bottom and type their name into the box to the right.

I've done this as I have made a start on something I've been putting off for some time: finding the EBU numbers of all the League's players.

This year we will make our submission for Master-Points electronically and, to be honest, they'll only be of use for current EBU members for whom I can find EBU Numbers. I will follow up with captains but I am keen to avoid extra work tracking down names of those who haven't actually played.

Well done Division Four!

They are the first division to be 100% complete. Congratulations to USA-A Diamondbacks (Jim Bochsler, Bryan Peers, Sheila Peers, Byron Crittenden, Mahmood Sadek, Mike Lunn, Robin Burns) who emerged a division champions.

There has been a change on the server-side the repercussions of which are that the arguments passed to the league scorer have changed.

What difference does that make?

None at all if you ensure you load this page freshly and use the link to the left.

Knock-out Round Two

The draw for the second round of the knock-out is now out. And, I'm very pleased to say, without a single forfeit. There is an 'either or', the result of a sad and unavoidable postponement but that match is arranged for a few days' time.

10-Nov-2010

After no claims that the old version of the leagues was preferable, I've changed all this year's links to the new format.

3-Nov-2010

I've made some 'improvements' to the site. I realise that 'new improved' are two of the most disappointing words to stumble across in a familiar location but I hope I haven't done too much damage.

The menu has been spruced up and is, I hope, easier to use and the league display has been streamlined and now leaves the left-hand navigation visible. That's available from the 'All Divisions' link on the left (see the 2009-2010 tables for comparison. That complete list and the individual divisions can be accessed from the 'year page'.

One thing, does anyone still look at the divisions separately? That is, say you're in division five, do you just click on that link rather than list the whole league?

Update: since writing that I've thought of a mechanism that allows display of a division on its own: Premier, Two, Three, Four, Five and Six.

1-Nov-2010

I've re-created the Captains' Contact details.

In the past there has been a problem with posting these on the website due to the vulnerability of the document to email harvesting by spammers. However I have created an encrypted link from the 'year page' and I will endeavour to keep this up to date.

14-Oct-2010

The first results are in: Church Commissioners v Formtex was the first, a win for the away team, closely followed by RAC Jaguar v LSE 'A', again an away win.

There is now a corrected draw for the first round of the Knock-Out (link at left). The reflects the late entry/change of mind at the AGM. There are no changes to arrangements made at the AGM.

The AGM Minutes are now available. We welcome Marina Chaning Pearce and Audrey Hartley to the committee and thank Carol Regulski who has stepped down for her assiduous work as treasurer. It is undeniably true that Carol single-handedly sorted out the Association's finances in the last few years having inherited an unfortunate tangle.

Contact details for the committee are always available from the left-hand menu
